Work Permit

If students are under 18 years old and plan to work, they should complete the “Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor” and fill out their personal information, get their parent or guardian to sign and have their employer fill out the business details and sign.

The amount of hours a minor can work depends on their age. Please see more information on the California Department of Education website.

• Minors 14 & 15 years of age can work 3 hours on a school day (8 hours on a non-school day)

• Minors 16 & 17 years of age can work 4 hours on a school day (8 hours on a non-school day)
